Holding any medicated decoction, oil, Ghrita or any liquid in mouth to its full capacity for specific time without any movement inside mouth is called Gandusha.
In AyurvedaGandusha is considered as a part of daily regiments Gandusha has curative as well as preventive properties. There for it can be performed by healthy as well as diseased persons.
According to different disease conditions specific Gandusha can be performed with decoction Taila, Ghrita oil that is swished in the mouth around the teeth, gums, and cheeks.
This swishing is done for a specified period of time. The concept behind Gandusha in Ayurveda is that the medicine in form of oil, decotion or Gritha when swished in the mouth pulls toxins from the mouth.
