Annalepa or Njavarteppu

Annalepa therapy is a specialPanchkarma modality in which the sudation is carried out by applying cooked Anna over the patient’s body.Annalepa is term, comprised of two words- “Anna” refers to food and “Lepa” means to cover.For this therapy, special type of rice –ShashtikandShali, are combined together and processed with milk and medicinal herbs till it gets the consistency of paste. This paste is applied directly over the patient’s body.

Annalepa is predominantly used in combating the diseases caused by morbid Vata and Rakta (blood), degeneration and inflammatory conditions, diseases accompanied by depletion of tissue, loss of strength and fatigue, emaciation and in all musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. It  is  an  effective  and treatment in reducing  the  muscle  spasm,  corrects  joint  deformities,  prevents  contractures,  improves muscle  tone,  increases  the  bulk  of  muscles, etc.
